A geomagnetic storm with a Kp-index of 5 is expected on 2 July
On 2 July, a weak geomagnetic storm is expected with a Kp-index of 5, corresponding to level (G1), and the most active period of the storm is forecasted from 21:00 (UTC+00) to 00:00 (UTC+00), when the Kp-index will reach its maximum value of the day, reflecting the highest intensity of geomagnetic disturbances during this period.
Slight fluctuations in power grids are possible, along with short-term high-frequency radio communication disruptions in polar regions and a light impact on satellite systems. At night, the aurora borealis may be visible in areas around 60° latitude.
Research does not provide a definitive answer about the health effects of geomagnetic storms, but certain groups of people — particularly those who are weather-sensitive or have chronic illnesses — may experience discomfort. On such days, it is advisable to take care of yourself, avoid stress, and limit physical exertion.
