Geomagnetic storm forecast for 18 August

17 August 14:48

On 18 August, a small geomagnetic disturbances is expected with a Kp-index of 4, corresponding to level (G0), and the most active period of the storm is forecasted from 18:00 (UTC+00) to 21:00 (UTC+00), when the Kp-index will reach its maximum value of the day, reflecting the highest intensity of geomagnetic disturbances during this period.

At high latitudes, slight disruptions in satellite communication channels and GPS may occur. Vulnerable satellite systems may experience minor surface charging, but without significant consequences. The aurora borealis may be visible in regions between 60–65° latitude.

There is currently no consensus among scientists regarding the impact of geomagnetic storms on health. However, many people with increased sensitivity may respond to changes in geomagnetic conditions. In such cases, it is recommended to maintain a calm routine, avoid stress, and pay attention to the body’s signals.
